Student Views

“Prior was the obvious choice for me: it's close to home and was highly recommended by friends and family. All my teachers are very good, the College is very organised and I can always find a quiet area in the resource centre to get on with my work.”

TRAVEL & TOURISM A LEVEL

WHAT IS TRAVEL & TOURISM?

The modules investigate various aspects of the Travel & Tourism industry in order to encourage students to develop their understanding of the inter-relationships that exist across the sectors. Students will learn to appreciate the scale and importance of this global and dynamic industry and identify how the sectors respond to changes. Students will be encouraged to focus on the characteristics and features of the individual sectors and to develop and practice skills necessary for employment within the industry, especially to plan, prioritise to meet deadlines as well as demonstrating the ability to work independently and within teams.

USEFUL SKILLS & INTERESTS

To achieve the Applied AS award students are required to develop their ability to undertake independent research and reading to investigate the variety of organisations that make up the industry. The AS focuses on the student’s ability to provide in depth explanations with examples and data to support findings (e.g. the scale of the industry and the popularity of holiday destinations).
