Safeguarding

If something is wrong, tell us

You do not need to be sure. You do not need proof. If you are worried about yourself or about someone else, tell a member of staff and we will take it seriously.

How to report a concern

There are four ways, and all of them work.

  • Speak to any member of staff you trust. Your tutor is a good place to start, but it does not have to be them
  • Email the safeguarding team at ppcsafeguarding@atomix.ac.uk
  • Use the help button on the student home screen
  • Come to student services and ask to speak to someone

Safeguarding contact details are also printed on the back of your college lanyard.

For a concern about the wider trust or about a member of staff, email safeguarding@atomix.ac.uk.

Who deals with it

Angela Stevenson, Head of Centre, is the member of the senior team named as responsible for safeguarding, including the Prevent duty. Kathrine Finlay, Head of Student Services, is a deputy designated safeguarding lead.

Every head of department and deputy head of department is trained to level 4 in safeguarding and supports this work.

Named roles confirmed 10 August 2026.

What we can help with

  • Feeling unsafe, at college or anywhere else
  • Bullying, harassment or discrimination
  • Abuse or neglect, including at home
  • Domestic abuse
  • Online safety, including images shared without your consent
  • Concerns about radicalisation or extremism, under the Prevent duty
  • Anything else where you or someone else may be at risk

What happens after you tell us

Someone from the safeguarding team will talk to you, and they will explain what happens next before it happens. You will not find things out afterwards.

We keep what you tell us to the people who need to know in order to help. If we believe you or someone else is at risk of significant harm, we have a duty to share information, and we will tell you if that is the case.

If you are worried about a friend

Tell someone. If a friend has told you something worrying and asked you to keep it quiet, that is a heavy thing to carry on your own, and passing it to a member of staff is the right thing to do rather than a betrayal.

If it is an emergency

If someone is in immediate danger, call 999. Outside college hours you can also contact Childline on 0800 1111, or the NSPCC on 0808 800 5000.

Our policies

Read our child protection and safeguarding policy (PDF). Our other policies are on our policies page. If you need one that is not there, ask us and we will send it to you.
