Our Therapy Service

We have therapeutic counsellors on site at both colleges. They offer one-off drop-in appointments and weekly counselling sessions in a non-judgemental, confidential space.

You do not need a diagnosis. You do not need to have it all figured out. If something is getting in the way of you feeling okay, that is enough.

The Therapy Service can support you with: anxiety and worry, low mood, stress and burnout, self-esteem, difficult life events including grief and loss, family or relationship issues, sleep problems, and anything else that is affecting how you feel.

How to access it

Drop-in appointments are available on a first come, first served basis:

Monday 2pm to 3pm. Tuesday to Friday 3pm to 4pm

For weekly sessions, email therapyservice@atomix.ac.uk and we will send a referral form. After an initial assessment, we will match you with a counsellor and your sessions will begin.

Beyond the Therapy Service

Not everything needs a counsellor. Sometimes talking to your tutor is enough. Sometimes it is a friend, a family member, or an anonymous helpline. Whatever works for you.

Below are guides on common things students deal with. Each one includes practical advice and links to further support:

If you are worried about substance use (yours or someone else’s), our counsellors cannot work directly with substance misuse but they can signpost you to local services. Young Minds has good information for young people and parents.

For parents and carers: Each topic page includes links to parent-specific guidance. If you are concerned about your child, you are welcome to contact the college directly and speak to their tutor in the first instance, or the Therapy Service if you feel counselling support would help.

You do not need a crisis to book

Your mental health matters as much as your grades, and one affects the other. The on-site team offer confidential one-to-one counselling, small support groups, workshops, and links out to external services when that is the right call.

Overwhelmed, going through something, or just needing to say it out loud to someone who is not in your family: all of those count. It is confidential, it is free, and using it is normal. A lot of people here do.
